Hittin Links Golf Tour presents the 4th Annual Battle of the Bridges Match Play Championship! This is a special season long event and open to ALL registered members of the Tour.
How does it work? After registration closes on 3/30, we will split the Bay Area Players into one bracket and the Valley Area players in the other bracket. We set the first matches based on home location to keep the first round matches as close together as possible to limit the amount of driving players have to do as we have some members up to 200 miles apart. *If we have too few players from a conference we will move players to the other bracket based on the home location that makes the most sense.
We start with Matches 1 where players will have until the end of each month to complete their match against their opponent. Players must work with each other to decide where and when to play their match. The Tour is NOT responsible for helping setup the matches between players. Here’s how the matches will play out…
-
- Players will pick a course and will play traditional Match Play Format. This is a NET event, so players must calculate their handicaps to figure out what strokes should be given. To make it easy to calculate if Player A is a 10 handicap and Player B is 24 handicap, then take the difference of 14. This means that Player B will get 1 stroke on the 14 hardest holes over player A.
- Please refer to USGA rules here for a breakdown of Match Play rules: Learn More
- Players have one month to complete their match else they forfeit from the championship
Players must report back their result to the Commish before the next matchups are set.
The 2 players that make it to the finals will announce their course of play to the whole crew and players can elect to come watch the finale! The Champion gets an exception into the Tour Championship, big points, bigger tour credits and gets to claim the Match play throne for one year.
NOTE: We will double the player count to 32 if we get 16 more players.
